Thank you, Morro Bay, for voting in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
We’re seeing a paradigm shift in our community that was sorely needed. The voters have spoken to that.
Congratulations to Carla Wixom, our next mayor. It’s been a long road for Carla, who spent decades selflessly giving back to the community as a successful businesswoman, restaurateur and a councilwoman. Carla maintained a very delicate balance of public and private sector commitments that make her a truly capable leader. Carla will usher in a new era of accountability, transparency and independence in government. There will certainly be challenges ahead, but I’m confident Carla will tackle those challenges head-on.
Thank you, Mayor Headding for your service to Morro Bay. Though we’ve disagreed on certain issues, I remain hopeful that we can maintain and improve on the foundation your leadership provided during your two terms in office. I want to assure you and those who voted for you that progress will absolutely move forward, not backward. The initiatives you’ve taken will be improve our financial standing, resident quality of life and economic diversification will continue.
The fight is not over. Regardless of who won or lost this election, many community issues remain. I will continue to educate and inform the community on the issues I believe are important. For now, it’s time to heal. Time to unite. Time to grow and be better than the people we were yesterday. Together, let’s move forward.
